19.03.07 - Where the hell did my weekend go?
So now that it is lunchtime on a monday and all the kids are tucked fast asleep I am forced to wonder what happened to my much promised productive weekend of sorting all these loose ends out. Granted I made it to one of my three intended appointments, that being Japanese, not surprisingly, but all in all, I must have just sat on my sofa spacing out and playing PSP for an entire weekend. About the only achievements which I can speak of are catching up with Bleach and the O.C.(R.I.P). listening to a ridiculous amount of podcasts and working my way through Loco Roco and Every Extend Extra. I feel so lazy at the weekends after a week of teaching and it seems like I dont have the willpower to get anything done at weekends. This has to change, either that or I make time during the week for all of these extra curricular duties and have no guilt about crashing out on a friday afternoon.
I did make it out for St Patricks day on Saturday night with some of my friends. It seems our American counterparts take the occasion way more seriously than I ever have and I disappointed many by not wearing green on said night. I dont think I own anything green anyway, its not a colour that seems wearable comfortably. Anyway, It was good fun although a little short lived since my friends had been celebrating the night before whereas I had been sitting on my sofa throwing rolled up balls of paper into an imaginary dustbin hoop. I postponed my gym meeting for yet another week since I havent been going. Its really difficult to summon up the power to get my ass there and when I do I feel so out of place I want to leave ten minutes later and scamper back to my nest.
I must say though, the urge to lay about on weekends is all the more encoraged by the fantastic world of the supermarket down the road. Its so well stocked with savoury snacks and also hosts the bakery I have raved about on many a post, and since I have discovered where they keep the curry rice I dont think I need to shop anywhere else. The other day I discovered a drink which I thought only existed in the vending machine outisde Ueno Zoo in Tokyo since Tom, Ade and I partook of it last Summer, called Bubble Man Soda. I have to buy another and photograph it for you all since it such a rare delight. I wonder what it would taste like if you mixed it with boss coffee? Theres an experiment for the wee hours of the morning im sure.
So im closing Id just like to say that Im still working on the podcast and fine tuning the music and intros still. Im probably going to add some more content since what I do have at the moment is a little out there. Im curious to see the effect of a podcast made over several takes on several different nights. Whether or not it forms a cohesive product will be entirely coincidental but a podcast nontheless. I really dislike my lack of skill with regards to keeping contact with everyone. Not to excuse myself but it feels as if work is all I can focus on at the moment in order to keep my head above water. This is something I promised myself I will work on, that and time management. I do feel that the amount of responsibilty placed on my at the moment is good for me and helps me become better at what I do. The next week is going to be super tough at work, meetings, planning and paperwork but it wont be like that forever.
As always, still here,

Hey Man, thanks for the update - sounds like you're weekend was about as spaced out as mine. I didn't make it out with the rest of the peeps for St Patrick's day as I drank too much the night before and ended up sick as a dog on the day itself :o( I can't wait for your podcast - looking forward to the mish-mash of it being done over a few nights.
Me and Dave finally watched Howl's Moving Castle last night, I can't believe we hadn't watched it yet - I think its my favourite, with cool Turnip Head and that little dog being two of my favourite characters from any of the Gibli films.
Keep on truckin'
Liz :o)
Hey brother, nice to hear from you. I got a nice calming wave wash over me once I've finished reading your post and although you seem stressed out, at least I know you're surviving. Don't feel too bad about the lack of contact, remember when I disappeared for a bit - same reason, I just couldn't find the time.
Looking forward to the podcast and future posts. Stay safe dude and keep reading arcadefinger for the Sheffield news.
Dave x
