17.08.2006 or "Oni Mode"
So I made the transition. Im not saying its an easy one or one which makes me look particularly dignified but its done. I am there. Im not comfortable there yet and Its not easy to do it infront of other people but im staying there and there is no turning. Today was the day I made the transition from difficult to Oni difficulty on Taiko no Tatsujin eight. I can say that it is brutal and after one song it feels like your arms are going to pop but the level of satisfaction gained even barely qualifying a song and getting a second chance is a world apart from the somewhat tame offerings of difficult mode.
If you are a new reader to the blog do this and you will know what I mean. Find a Taiko no Tatsujin Machine (Taiko drum master in the west) and make sure it is number eight. You will pick the left hand option which picks the overall difficulty setting for the songs. You will be presented with a cute drum guy who bounces onto three platforms easy, middle and hard. Hit the right rim until you get to the hardest setting on the screen. Then keep hitting many times until the drum guy leaps into the air and teleports to a new setting which looks like a demon. Done that? Right, now choose a song any song and try to hit some notes. See, see, now do you understand why it has taken me so long to be able to even try to do well on this setting.
Everything else in the day pales in comparrison so Ill leave it there. Tomorrow is Friday, nearly the weekend again yey!

Thanks for sharing he hidden option dude. Sadly meadowhall has long since removed its version (not sure what number it was - I would guess 6 but I'm sure you'll remember) If I ever see one I'll give it a go.
Later dude
Wow - I never realised the game you were talking about was the one they had at meadowhall when we first started uni. That was so fun! I'm glad you made it to Oni - it seems like a goal you've been wanting to reach for ages. Well done!
